Contest Rules


The contest is open to all residents of Canada except directors, officers and employees of Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart. The contest is void where prohibited or restricted by law. Any and all disputes will be resolved in accordance with the laws and in the courts of the Province of Saskatchewan.

Should there be a conflict between the Saskatchewan laws and any other laws, the conflict shall be resolved in favour of the Saskatchewan laws. No purchase is necessary.


Entries can be submitted at by entering their “love your lentils” in the designated “vote” fields that accompany the participating restaurant profiles.

You can also enter without purchase by mailing a self-addressed stamped envelope, attention “Canadian Lentils” to 207-116 Research Drive, Saskatoon, SK. S7N 3R3.

The odds of winning depend on the number of entries received by the contest deadline. There are no limitations on the number of entries submitted by an entrant. The finalists will be selected via total number of votes. Non-compliance with any entry procedure may result in disqualification.


Entrants may have a chance winning one prize per entry; of which the prizes may include:

A Grand Prize winner will be selected by a random draw.

The Grand Prize for One Very Lucky Voter & Guest:

On Saturday, August 4th, Food Day Canada, one very lucky voter and guest will join Chef Michael Smith for a culinary adventure on and off Prince Edward Island as he sets sail with a bag of lentils and a boatful of local farmers, fishers, distillers and culinary artisans. Gather a bounty of special ingredients with him from his favourite farms, distilleries and oyster beds. Then join him as he prepares a feast of unique local ingredients paired with the world’s best lentils and celebrates his personal Food Day Canada!

What’s Included:

  • Flight/transportation to Prince Edward Island for August 4th, 2012
  • 2 nights accommodation (August 3rd/4th) at the luxurious Inn at Bay Fortune where Chef Michael Smith’s career began in earnest.
  • $500 spending money for the trip

The number of prizes will be dictated by the final number of participating restaurants. These prizes will be drawn randomly. Winners will be notified by email.

Prizes will be sent via mail through Canada Post. Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart assume no responsibility for lost items sent through Canada Post.

All prizes will be drawn for on or before June 23, 2012. All prizes must be redeemed within 10 days of winner notification email being sent, otherwise the prize will be forfeited - no extensions will be permitted. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and cannot be exchanged, transferred or converted. Prize does not include any fees, charges, taxes, gratuities, insurances, or personal expenses other than those costs/value or benefits described above. Canadian Lentils, Culinart and Food Day Canada assume no responsibility or liability for damages, losses or injury that may result from the acceptance or use of prize.


Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart will not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods consumed, or items one may come in contact with, during any visitations to participating restaurants in conjunction with the Love Your Lentils campaign. Entrants concerned with food allergies need to be aware of this risk.


By entering the contest, entrants consent to the use, without payment or compensation, of their names for publicity purposes in all media carried out by Love Your Lentils.


All entries must be received no later than 11:59 pm on June 4, 2012. Winner(s) will be notified by email or phone on or before June 23, 2012.


Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart cannot be held responsible for entries that are lost or delayed during submission. Canadian Lentils and Food Day Canada are not responsible for any failure of the website during this contest. Nor are they responsible for any problems or technical malfunctions of computer online systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software or any e-mail, online or internet entry lost due to technical problems or traffic congestion on the internet or at any website or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer or property related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion.

Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart reserve the right to cancel the contest or modify these rules at its discretion. Decisions of Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart will be final on all aspects of the contest, including matters of fact, interpretation, eligibility, procedure and fulfillment. This contest shall be subject to all federal, provincial and municipal laws.


By entering this contest, each entrant consents to Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart storing, sharing and using the personal information submitted with his or her entry only for the purposes of administering the contest and in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, Cap. F-15.01. Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart will not otherwise sell or disclose any entrant’s personal information. Canadian Lentils, Food Day Canada and Culinart have permission to use the information provided for the purpose of marketing.
